PSG Overcomes Olympique de Marseille via Spot-Kicks to Claim French Super Cup in the Middle East.

PSG players celebrating

The Parisian club has now secured the prestigious trophy on 14 separate occasions.

Paris Saint-Germain needed a stoppage-time equaliser followed by a perfect spot-kick decider to get past their arch-rivals in Kuwait and secure a record-extending fourth consecutive Trophee des Champions victory.

The Champions League holders seemed to be sailing towards a comfortable win in the showdown between the French league winners and the French Cup holders after Ousmane Dembele opened the net in the opening stages.

Yet, Marseille fired twice late to take a surprise advantage. Initially, Mason Greenwood converted from the spot-kick, before the defender inadvertently directed the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a remarkable turn of fortune, the Portuguese striker snatched a vital leveler in the dying seconds to send the match into a deciding shootout. PSG goalkeeper Chevalier then emerged as the key figure, stopping crucial kicks from O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

From the spot, Goncalo Ramos, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, and the young talent all converted with composure for PSG to seal a 4-1 shootout victory.

Now 14-time winners PSG, who faced last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Marseille after completing a league and cup double, have now lifted this trophy for the twelfth time in the past 13 years.
